The Royal Hospital in Scotland had to close down two wards for sick children, after six children were infected with bacteria from the water supply.
This seems to be an ongoing problem for Royal Hospital, as several outbreaks have been reported since the beginning of the year, causing children to become ill.
These kind of bacteria, as the health board said, pose a very low risk to anyone healthy but can be harmful to patients, like those suffering from cancer, whose immunity is compromised. Thus, it is very important to monitor and control water systems in hospitals and identify potential concerns in a timely manner.
